Schio is a city of art. No one, or almost no one including its inhabitants, the Schedensi, realizes this. But if by “art” we also mean “industrial art”, namely the capacity for work, and the creation of artefacts and technology, there is no doubt at all that our town is one of the symbols of Italian and European industrial activity in the nineteenth century, elevated by “art”. The importance of Schio in what is called “industrial archaeology” is unquestionably of European, and therefore global significance.
